Viewsonic PJ501 : Best Buy Award!
Those lucky consumers that purchased the first Viewsonic PJ501 projectors back in November of 2002 knew that this was an extremely smart buy and are continuing to reap the benefits as this projector continues to perform well.The PJ501 was originally listed at a low price of $1200 USD at a time when projectors were still considered an expensive luxury. You may be able to pick one up today for much less than that, and still get tons of use out of this iron-man. I have heard many good things about the PJ501 and the most important thing for buyers to know about this projector is its durability.
The brightness of the PJ501 still stands out today blasting out 1500ANSI lumens, which is plenty of power for the average consumer. Watching movies and television is easy on the eyes as it is bright enough even when some ambient light is present.
The brightness of this projector is also coupled with a ‘long-life’, ‘low maintenance’ projector lamp. The lamp lasts for 2000 hours and is low wattage therefore is more efficient and uses less energy. To purchase a lamp for the PJ501 click here.
The only thing that does not compare well to the newer projectors is the contrast ratio, which is 400:1, however you must be quite discriminating to notice the difference and it still is quite sufficient. The resolution for the PJ501 makes up for the contrast by providing HDTV capability of up to 1080i and a native resolution of 1024x768p.
Some benefits that the PJ501 include are plenty of inputs for all types of connections ranging from personal computers to component video as well as a short focus lens which allows you to place the projector a little closer if necessary. It also weighs less than 5 lbs making it quite easy to mount into your ceiling.
