Wireless Projectors Making Big Splash

The wireless world continues to expand like one of those sponge animals that grow when you put water on it. And now projectors are getting in on the action in a big way. There is a major drive to transform the typical projector, and to start manufacturing them with wireless capabilities.

If you’ve ever tried to setup your projector for a home theater you know that there are some major issues when it comes to wires. If you’re going to mount the projector into the ceiling you know that you need miles and miles of wires and just not any wires either. S-Video wires are usually a key concern and when you start trying to get S-Video wires that are longer than 12 feet, you also find yourself running up costs – big time. Also, it can be exhausting trying to place those same cumbersome wires out of the way, so that you, your wife or your little gaffers don’t trip on them. I am sure this experience is common and so are companies like Hewlett Packard. And that is one reason why there is a major push to develop wireless projectors.

Hewlett Packard’s EP9012 wireless projector is a shining example of how this can be done at an affordable price and while maintaining quality. The projector has a built in DVD player, which unfortunately has a regional DVD reading machine, so you can’t watch movies that you bought in Viet Nam or Pakistan on it. But, the unit is wireless and features built in speakers. You could literally take this projector camping if you wanted to. Imagine watching A River Runs Through It while I river is running through the living room and the stars are your ceiling – I’ll bet that’s a campfire the grizzly bears have never seen before.

The EP9012 also has HDTV capability, though we are unsure whether or not you can watch TV wirelessly, please check with HP about this. If you cannot, then I do not see what the value is in this supposedly “wireless� projector.

Regardless or not of what the true capabilities are on the EP9012, the fact is that wireless projectors are rolling in, and that will make the entertainment possibilities endless in the future.
