Vidikron Widens Its Parameters

We all know Vidikron as the company that specializes in super-expensive projectors, that only those who get their home theatres completely built and installed by professionals, purchase from. They engineer high definition and ultra high quality resolution technology combined with DLP technology to enhance their projectors images.

Well, Vidikron has now introduced the new Cinewide TM feature. This ultimately creates a true wide screen that eliminates the black bars at the top and bottom of your projector screen without compromising the resolution that the movie or the projector offers.

You might ask yourself that since I own a 16:9 native aspect projector, I technically get the true widescreen effect. Not exactly. When you switch to cinema mode on your projector, and this is for the average 16:9, you still are losing vertical and horizontal resolution despite the fact that your LCD or DLP chip is technically 16:9.

Basically the new CineWide TM feature that Vidikron has added will make sure that your DLP chip is not going to waste. All that good money that you paid to get a real cinema picture is being put to use. There is no stretching of the vertical resolution because they have made sure that there are more lines of resolution to compensate for the 2.35:1 “cinemascope†which many popular movies are filmed in.

Herein lies the beauty of the true cinema projectors; they actually take into account the different ratios in which movies are filmed. This is why you may notice on your 16:9 projector, that even though you are watching a DVD in widescreen, you will still get black lines. Unless you push it all the way into the ZOOM mode, but that ultimately cuts off a small portion from the top and bottom, not to mention the sides of the screen.

There are other manufacturers that have started to increase their resolutions so that they have extra compensation to make up for the lost horizontal resolution. You will notice that instead of 1280x1024p, there is 1366x1024p, or something similar to that. This tells us that Vidikron is not the first to realize that simply by stretching your screen, you are not truly getting a wide screen.
