Sony Develops Super Projector

Sony is always on the cutting edge of technology and it is a big reason a lot of consumers are so attracted to the company in the first place. People want the best for themselves, and wanting the best consumer electronics products is no exception. Sony over the years has been able to brand themselves as one of the highest quality consumer electronic companies, that still remains competitive in the marketplace of the average buyer.

So, it comes as no surprise that every now and then, Sony will come out with an outrageously expensive high-end product and promote it heavily. It is all a part of Sony’s push to engrain the image of themselves as a high-quality manufacturer into the minds of the average person in the street. The much hyped and highly publicized announcement of Sony’s latest release, a beautiful beast of a projector, named the Sony VPL-VW100 comes as no surprise. And this projector and the projector lamp that powers it, are not anything to bat an eye at.

As mentioned the name of the projector is the Sony VPL-VW100. It is the first non-made-to-order projector produced by Sony that comes with the SXRD mirrors that were developed by the company to promote a crystal clear picture. The resolution on this projector is just sick, and the contrast ratio at 15000:1 seems like something out of science fiction just a year or two ago.

The projector has all the digital inputs a user could ask for - DVI-D, HDMI and S-Video. The projector can also pump out whatever quality high-definition picture you demand and comes with a ridiculous projector lamp. The projector lamp is so bright that the VPL-VW100 could be the first projector to be able to act like a television even in the daytime.

This projector is pushing the limits of what is and is not possible when it comes to projectors and it will cost a pretty penny as well. The VPL-VW100 is expected to retail for somewhere near $10,000 USD, making it a pipe dream for most. But it is cool that a projector, with a projector lamp as bright as this one actually exists.
