Sony’s New Bravia Series Projectors Are A Hit!

When it came time to buy a new television I was certainly leaning towards the flat LCD style since they are so bright and work well with HDTV. When doing research I noticed that the Sony Bravia LCD TV’s were a cut above the competition thanks to its contrast ratio and clarity. Sony is now introducing it’s first Bravia LCD front projectors and I’m sure they are every bit as sharp as it’s TV counter parts!

Sony is now releasing its Bravia series projectors with two new models; the VPL-AW10 and the VPL-AW15. The VPL-AW10 is the more affordable model and the VPL-AW15 is the slightly higher end deluxe version however, exact pricing is yet to be determined. Both projectors have a sleek new attractive design and both come equipped with HDMI inputs allowing smooth function with BluRay and Sony Playstation units.

A new feature available on these newer Sony units called 24p Playback allows for movies to be played at 24 frames per second which is the original analog rate, eliminating distortions that are created when converting analog movies to digital format. They also come with seriously impressive lenses which can display a an 80 inch picture from a distance of roughly 2 metres, in case you have a small room.

The key to the Bravia Series projectors, like its TV counterparts, are its high contrast LCD screens which can produce a 12000:1 contrast ratio. And although they are not blindingly bright at 1300 ANSI lumens, they can display images that are similar to the resolution of the LCD TV’s.

The new Sony Bravia Series are recommended to be used with Sony’s DynaClear Screens, which optimize the brightness and clarity of the image. This is why the projector does not necessarily need to be ultra bright and therefore doesn’t have to run at super high temperatures. The cooling system and fan are designed to maintain long lamp life and run at a low audible noise level of 20db’s.

Sony seems to be ahead of the game and constantly evolving to make sure its new projectors are functional yet efficient. Check back in our review section to see new articles on these dynamic new projectors and if you are looking for an existing Sony projector lamp click here.
