Projector Lamp Just a Short Throw Away

A new format of projector has launched in Asia and other highly urbanized cities throughout the world. The projectors are called short-throw projectors and use a specific type of lens to achieve big screen status within constricted spaces. Short throw projectors are perfect for small apartments, cramped board rooms or space where cozy restrictions require the projector to be close to the screen or surface that it is projecting on.

The latest and greatest of these projectors has recently been unveiled by BenQ’s projector division and is called the MP771 projector. The MP771 projector comes equipped with with a high-brightness projector lamp that pumps out a stunning, lucid and clear 3000 ANSI lumens. The projector is competitive in most operational categories including a 2000:1 contrast ratio and features an ultra high-definition resolution that makes watching HD movies and television shows a dream. The MP771 also uses a state-of-the-art projector lamp that they call UNISHAPE technology. This special technology allows the user of the projector to adjust the brightness of the projector lamp, something that was previously not possible with traditional projector lamps. But of course, the real magic with this projector comes with its built in short-throw capabilities – the MP771 projector has the ability to project an image of 74 inches on a screen just a mere 3 and a half feet away.

As projector and projector lamp manufacturers continually change and upgrade their technology it is inevitable that innovations such as the short-throw projector will come online. The big question is - will consumers accept or reject these innovations? Time will only tell, but it is important to note that niche technologies such as short-throw projectors often fail. It would be interesting to see the demographic information, but personally, I find it difficult to believe that people who can afford projectors also do not have the space to project them onto their walls at a reasonable distance.
