Panasonic PT-AE900; ET-LAE900 Projector Lamp

Panasonic continues to make high-quality, relatively inexpensive LCD projectors for home theater or business use.

For the past 5 years Panasonic has introduced what they call the AE series of projectors. These AE series projectors are ideal for home and classroom use as they employ LCD technology and are therefore more cost effective for individual buyers or buyers with smaller budgets like public schools. Panasonic’s PT-AE900 is one of the newer projectors in the AE series and today we will look at the performance of the projector lamp ET-LAE900, the pluses of this projector and the overall performance of the unit as well.

The Panasonic ET-LAE900 projector lamp is manufactured specifically for the PT-AE900 projector and is not compatible with any other Panasonic projectors or projectors manufactured by other brand names. The projector lamp is 130 watts, and produces 1100 ANSI lumens of brightness. The brightness level of the lamp is not as high an output compared to some other projector lamps on the market today that have higher wattages. However, the Panasonic PT-AE900 makes up for the weak projector lamp brightness by incorporating a 5500:1 contrast ratio into the unit and providing the user with 1080i high definition quality picture.

The contrast ratio and the HD quality picture are two features of the PT-AE900 projector that definitely add to the viewing experience. Higher contrast ratios allow the user to differentiate between various darker shades that appear on the screen, making darker scenes in videos more discernable to the viewer. Traditionally contrast ratios have been much, much lower on projectors than on rear projection televisions or flat screens TVs. But in recent years, front projectors have come a long way and can now produce contrast ratios that are competitive.

Overall, the performance of the Panasonic PT-AE900 projector is solid. If you are looking for an all purpose projector that doesn’t break the bank and still competes well on specifications, then this projector is definitely worth taking a look at.
