DWIN Transvision 2

Has anybody here ever heard of a DWIN projector? Well, I certainly hadn’t until I was coerced by my cousin George to check out the projector he was considering buying. I don’t know how he came across the DWIN Transvision (TV2), but my first thoughts were that I was going to engage with Darth Vader.

The DWIN Transvision (TV2) is as black as night and looks like the Darth Vader mask lying flat. This is one serious machine, and you can immediately tell by the price tag. A few years ago it came out with the hefty price of just over $10,000 US and you ask yourself why anybody would pay so much for a projector. There are many new projectors these days that have high contrast ratios of over 1000:1 and high lumens output of over 1500 ANSI that go for between $2000 and $4000 US.

The reason why the Transvision TV2 is so expensive is because it is a DLP projector with a high grade DLP chip and smart components throughout. Personally, I think it is a little overpriced, but now that it has had time to settle, it should be easier on the wallet. Weighing in at over 6 kilograms it is obtusely heavy, but you know that they have used quality parts to make sure your projector will last you a long time.

The DWIN is a bright machine that emits 1000 ANSI lumens, which is plenty for the average movie go’er. It employs a 150W projector lamp to produce this dazzling spectacle of light. The projector lamp will also last for over 2000 hours and while it is becoming rare, it can still be found at myprojectorlamps.com for a low price.

The Transvision (TV2) actually offers a true 16:9 native aspect resolution since instead of using the typical 1024x768p resolution, it uses a tighter grid of 1280x720p resolution that makes up for the stretching. It also offers a contrast ratio of 1200:1, so you know that your blacks will be quite dark and your colors will saturated to the max.

The Transvision (TV2) gives you every option for connections including up to 1080i in HDTV format, but it does not offer DVI inputs. All this considered, the DWIN Transvision (TV2) is a solid projector with a bright future.
