Sony VPL-PX20: LMP-P200 Projector Lamp
The Sony VPL-PX20 is a high-end projector that Sony developed around 6 years ago to compete with some of the more advanced competitors of the day. The projector features a 200W projector lamp, which is surprising because the PX20 was manufactured in 1999 and projector lamps of this caliber were rarely found in projector pre-millenium.The projector retailed for around 9 grand in 1999 and I would not be surprised if a lot of money was spent on gearing the unit up with this 200W projector lamp. The great thing about having a 200W projector lamp of course, is that fact you will always get a massive ANSI lumen rating from that piece of technology. The VPL-PX20 does not disappoint when it comes to this area – generating an ill 1400 ANSI lumens.
We brought this projector to a projector lamp conference in Vancouver, Canada and actually used it to give a presentation on the emerging high wattage projector lamp industry. The PX20 performed beautifully, though we must admit we pre-tested it to make sure that the picture it produced was high enough quality. The thing that is really impressive about this projector, like so many that use 200W projector lamps, is the fact that it has such a striking picture. The colors really pop of the wall at 1400 ANSI lumens and although a bright projector won’t increase the resolution of the LCD or DLP panel, it seems to make the picture sharper because the colors are that much more vivid.
Speaking of picture resolution, the native resolution for the PX20 is 1024x768 and the projector boasts a maximum resolution of 1280x1024. The projector operates with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and has almost every imaginable hookup you might want including S-Video and HDTV compatibility.
Make sure you note that the projector lamp for the Sony VPL-PX20 is available right here at myprojectorlamps.com for only $282.99, which is the best price you will find for this lamp by a country mile.
Until next time – take it easy.
