Hitachi CP-S225 Projector and Lamp

The Hitachi CP-S225W is an excellent projector that people keep coming back to. A lot of people purchase this projector for home theater use and really enjoying watching DVDs or playing Xbox with it. One of the most amazing features of the projector is the short throw lens that comes standard with the unit. This feature allows the user to setup the projector at a short distance away from the viewing surface, while still enjoying a massive image. The maximum sized image the projector can produce is 200 inches at a throw range of 16 feet. How is that for Wow!

The projector lamp inside the unit is just as impressive. It is a small 150W projector lamp that packs a massive punch. The projector lamp produces an ANSI lumens rate of 1000. The contrast ratio, however, is a little bit on the weak side, producing a measly 200:1 rating. The projector was produced in the stone age, in contrast ratio terms, which means before 2004 when contrast ratios started to catch up with the rest of the technology.

The CP-S225 projector originally cost about two arms and one half leg, at just under $5,000. However, the price has come down considerably in recent years and there are myths floating around of people procuring this unit for under $800 USD, which is an absolute steal.

The Hitachi CP-S225 performed wonderfully during our tests. But with that said, we should warn you about some concerns that other users have with the projector. For example, there is one story about a man who had to return his CP-S225 twice because all the units he tried out was producing a magenta smudge in either the top left or top right hand corner of the image. Others have complained that the cooling fan is too loud. However, this could be because the projector was not cleaned or maintained properly and the projector lamp was overheating a lot.
