ASK C1 Compact With Compact Price Lamp
To define the C1 is to describe it as the 1964 Mustang of projectors. It may throw a few problems your way, but with a little know-how, you can get her up and running in no time without the help of a specialist. It is never recommended that you repair your own electronics because most companies will not cover your machine under its warranty if it has been tampered with. However, for those people who end up purchasing older projector models that may no longer be under warranty and most likely are sold in terrible shape, you may want to consider taking a crash course in repair.
You don’t need to study in much detail, you simply need to know a few basics and understand how to tell what is wrong. All that being said, the ASK C1 compact is a projector that, once cracked open, is very easy to understand. The layout is such that the average user can access the components very easily.
Before we bore the average consumer too much with repair talk, let’s talk about what the C1 Compact has to offer in regards to contrast, resolution and brightness.
The C1 Compact is quite bright for an older projector, shooting out 700 ANSI lumens. This is plenty for a medium sized room that is at least somewhat void of ambient light. It also provides the somewhat meager SVGA standard of 800x600p, but fortunately the C1 Compact can compress up to 1152x870p.
With respect to contrast, the C1 Compact does not quite gather the bragging rights, pitching a 300:1 ratio. This basically means that your blacks will more likely look like dark-to-medium grays. To get the best picture, you may want to consider purchasing a video scaler to make your image as crisp as possible.
Getting back to the whole fix your own projector part, you will want to get your hands dirty and clean the machine yourself. Pop open the casing and use some compressed air to clean the obvious trouble spots around the filter as well as other potential threats. If you are confident you can replace certain simple parts like the fan, why not give it a try. You have to make sure all connections are solid.
The C1 Compact is a somewhat loud machine, but as long as you clean it regularly, the fan should not act up. Pretty light and solid as a rock, the C1 Compact may become your best friend. It only comes with a video input, so make sure you get that scaler or use your personal computer to make the connections.
Lastly, the C1 Compact uses a 120W projector lamp to power its 700 ANSI lumens. The projector lamp will last an amazing 4000 hours if used properly and economically. Happy projecting!
