Philips Fellini 100…It has very long life..Lamp.

The Philips Fellini 100 came out a very long time ago, so long that no one can actually remember the exact year. When Philips started to design the prototype for the Fellini 100, they did not have much to go with since it was the second dawn of the projector revolution.

Digital projectors were just starting to get popular again and there were not many options that a manufacturer could offer for the midrange market. The Fellini 100 was a bare bones projector which had average lumens and contrast for its time.

The lumens hovered around 600 ANSI, and today if you were to pay over $5000 US for a projector like this you might be crying. But honestly, it really isn’t that bad at all, it is bright enough if you turn out the lights and allow for an image 6 feet wide.

The most incredible thing about this projector is its ability to conserve lamp life. The low lumens allows you to burn at lower temperatures and therefore it is easily cooled. The fan doesn’t get very loud and your projector lamp has an average life of 4000 hours. Philips really perfected the long life projector lamp. Most of their projectors were average when it came to brightness, but they could last for hours and hours before having to replace the projector lamp.

The contrast for the Fellini 100 is a little bit on the low side at 200:1, but this is not what you were paying for. The colors are saturated well enough; however, it is the resolution that keeps the Fellini 100 alive. An unprecedented XGA quality picture with 1024x768p, this LCD projector really pumps out the pixels. The screen door is present, as it is with most LCD projectors, but it isn’t that big a deal if you can pick up one of these babies used for under a $700 US in the present day and age.

The main problem with the Fellini is the lack of inputs, it hardly has any and you are relegated to using their standard video input. Once again, its saving grace is its low maintenance and extremely long lamp life.
